When you are ready, we need:
The SPC supercharger model number you want-
If you want to run 12 volts, 24 volts or 36 volts-
Do you want any powder coated or anodized colors-
Will you be using multiple batters and need extra wiring mount the extra batteries in the trunk-
You have several options for your performance setup:
Each unit is, of course, electronically controlled...you are generally OK to
buy a slightly larger size because the boost is entirely adjustable any level.
SPC-70 $2995 designed for up to 1,100hp engines
SPC-60 - $2499 designed for up to 600hp engines
SPC-50 - $1999 designed for up to 450 hp engines
SPC-40 - $1849 designed for up to 300 hp engines
SPC-Motorcycle - being developed
Remember, bigger isn’t always better if you simply aren’t going to use the
power. For example, if you have a stock 4 cylinder engine…you would have
to set the psi output of the SPC-70 to about what the output of the SPC-40 psi
would need to be set at for psi. Plus, the CFM (cubic feet per minute –
or air volume) would be unnecessarily high.
How to trigger the supercharger
All units come with an in cabin arming switch to activate or deactivate the entire supercharger system. You can trigger the supercharger one of several ways.
Progressive boost via a cammed rotating setup connected to the throttle cable OR The best setup is the computer interface system that will work with a Throttle Position Sensor or Drive by Wire system. It is completely programmable by MAF, TPS or MAP. Tuning with this setup is the best.
Electricity
Most individuals will see the power increase they desire on 12 volts. However, the higher the voltage the more psi
that can be produced….24 volt and 36 volt setups require a heavy duty voltage
step up convert which will charge your higher voltage system - $197 OR 24 volt
to 36 volt alternator that we can provide for most vehicles. This will supply
your 24v or 36v battery bank power and split off/isolate 12v for
the normal car system - prices vary and are quoted as per your request. A step down converters run about $995 for 100amp unit for 24v down to 12v...this is better than using a stepup converter. The best option, is possible is to install a secondary high amp high voltage alternator for the serious contender. Doing this will cost you several hp because of the slight
drag to the engine, but the benefits are huge.
A high output alternator is not necessary if you already have a decently high
output alternator such as 140amp; however, it is an excellent upgrade to have
in any case. Alternator prices vary considerably...many GM and Ford high
output alternators can be around $275+/-. High output import models can
run from the gamut in pricing. Please
call or email us your make, model and year to get an alternator quote. We
have several sources for excellent high output units...and not all high output alternators out there are the same.
The more voltage, the higher the compressor wheel speed – the higher the psi output will be. All superchargers are made to run at 12 volts and you can always upgrade to higher voltage at any time. Higher voltage setups will require an additional battery or two.
Batteries
For 12 volt systems – Each SPC Supercharger kit includes a super compact high power SPC Power Plant
Battery. Basically, you have the small battery wired in between the
supercharger and the main car battery. The cars voltage system will
remain at 12 volts, however it is easier on the cars main battery to have the
supercharger draw of the Braille or our battery
first and adds to the overall capacity of the battery system. Upgraded batteries or additional batteries
are available.
For 24 volt and 36 volt systems – you will need a 2nd or 3rd batteries for
this. Our batteries are very small and light compared to other car batteries,
mainly because they are designed for race applications. We also have
VoltPhreak batteries available…they are very light, charge extremely quickly and
very small…and very expensive…but they are the ultimate.
Step up voltage converters are 12v to 24v-36v $197
Step down converter 24v to 12v 100amp - $995
Upgraded alternator – call or email us for price
Additional wiring for small cars to the trunk - $65, large cars - $85, large SUV - $125
Liquid Cooling System
All kits come with liquid cooling
systems…cooling motor jackets and computer jackets installed, radiator, tubing,
electrical wiring, fan(s), reservoir and pump. This system is not for intercooling the output air, it is for the electronics of the supercharger.
Delivery Times
The average build time is estimated at 45-60 days for superchargers
provided that we have all parts for in stock. A deposit of 50% of the
total cost of the entire order will be needed to order any supercharger or
related parts for later shipment. Orders paid in full always get built
and shipped out first. If you choose get a refund at any time before delivery,
you will be charged a 10% restocking fee of the total order amount not
including tax. If you have a rush order, we can sometimes do it….however, the
cost could be significantly more. For waiting list – only paid deposits
will guarantee a supercharger from a waiting list or prevent needed to pay for
a price increase. When on a waiting list, we estimate, and I mean
estimate…90 days. However, that is not to say it couldn’t take less time
or little more time. Many of the parts are hand made and tested and are
only done with short production runs.
Installation
We strongly suggest that you use a qualified mechanic that can do a little bit
of fabrication to install the unit. The supercharger will come with basic
instructions and we do not have vehicle specific instructions. You may
install this yourself of course, and it will take a few trips to the hardware
store to find things you may need for installation. Depending up the room
you have available in the engine bay, you may need to be a little creative.
If you avoid buying a short ram or cold air intake, you might want to take your
SPC supercharger around with you to several exhaust shops, show them were you
will be installing it and have them custom bend the intake tubes for you!
Intercooling
You will need an either a air-to-air intercooler or a water-to-air intercooler to run boost. Compressing air causes heat. Please call for more information on your application.
Running PSI above 6 psi to 8 psi
If you want to run higher psi and do not want to change the engine management
system, we strongly suggest getting a Snow Performance water/methanol injection
system from us. They greatly reduce the combustion air temperature and
reduce the chances of detonation or “engine knock”. For more information
on out Snow Performance products, please see the bottom of the page when you
done reading.
If you want to run over 6 psi or 8 psi you may get away with simply using the water/methanol injection for slightly higher psi. For those with high compression ratios you may also need an aftermarket engine management computer or get your computer reflashed. Your SPC supercharger is adjustable so you don’t need to run it at full capacity. However, there is no way around this if you want to use your new SPC supercharger at full capacity. It is just part of modifying a vehicle for high psi and high performance, even if you are adding a turbocharger or belt driven supercharger, it’s all the same. Remember, with your SPC supercharger, you can always buy and run it at less than full capacity to get a great boost in power, and when you want more power simply get the water/methanol injection and/or engine management computer. Engine management computers most often need to be setup by a tuning shop while on a dyno. Too, anytime you are running any amount of boost or even no boost, you will almost always get more power by adding an engine management computer and having it tuned. Computer reflashes run from $350 on up and engine management computers, depending upon how sophisticated you want it to be and the vehicle, they run from $350 to $1000 or just about as much as you want to spend for that matter. Many universal engine management computers run around $500 to $600, however universal units aren’t available for all vehicles.
What upgrades are available and at what prices
This is the general order of importance that I would put the upgrades. The first four are the absolute best bang for the buck upgrades and represent some major performance increases in a variety of areas.
- Extra
compact racing battery – $139 to $179 for the most popular sizes
- Alternator
upgrade for high amperage capability – these prices will vary, please call
or email us
- Snow
Performance water/methanol injection system – NOS switch activation of
supercharger systems are State 1 systems $275.00; Progressive boost
applications use a Stage 2 setup $439.00. Snow Performance compares
using their system to running 116 octane gas!
- Voltage
upgrades – 2 batteries for 24v and 3 batteries for 36v. Each
battery can be set up to charge via step up converter or can be used with
a 24v-36v alternator directly to the battery bank and isolate 12v via a step down converter for the
remainder of the car. Alternators vary, please email or
call us for a price and availability.
- Cosmetic
upgrades – powder coating and anodizing, please email or call us for a
price
Warranty
We will warrant against manufactures defects for a period of one year on the
compressor housing, compressor wheel, drive shaft, back plate and gear box
housing. All other components are covered by a 90 day warranty against
manufactures defects.
Returns
We offer a 30 day return policy. All refunds are subject to a 10%
restocking fee. With the exception of standard colors of red, blue,
yellow and black…all custom color superchargers are non-refundable. All
returns must be in resalable condition. It is up to our discretion if any
given item has been returned in a resalable or non resalable condition.
Other Important Things Not to Ignore
Neither we, nor any individual at our company or resellers can control anybody’s installation quality and therefore we are only responsible for replacing defective items and not for any damage cause to anything by poor installation, abuse, acts of nature, unforeseen occurrences of any kind or whatever it may be. We can not be responsible for the results of careless behavior, bodily harm or harm to property. If you stick your finger inside a moving supercharger, you will probably pay for by getting a cut off finger…basically, don’t do anything unsafe or stupid at anytime…these are very powerful superchargers.
We also sell hundreds of other performance auto parts...and even though they horribly compared to the SPC superchargers, we do sell turbochargers and belt driven superchargers.
